The playing schedule has been finally confirmed as the European club competitions will continue this weekend.
European Cup schedule confirmed
The European club competitions will continue this weekend with the quarterfinals of the EHF Men’s Champions League and the semi-finals of the Men’s European Cup competitions.
Last weekend, the European Handball Federation was forced to postpone various games due to unexpected air traffic difficulties caused by an ash cloud over major parts of Europe.
Ever since the EHF has been continuously evaluating the available information on the situation and came to the following position: the build-up to the EHF Champions League FINAL4 and the European Cup finals as well as the very tight schedule of most of the teams with matches in their domestic competitions do not leave room for negotiations about new match dates. Many of the matches will be live on TV and will be played in full halls and therefore the carrying out of the matches must be secured.
The playing schedule has been modified in the case of the Chekhovskie Medvedi vs Montpellier HB EHF Champions League Quarterfinal 1st leg game and it has been finally confirmed.
From this point on, it is in the responsibility of the travelling teams to be present at the matches – also by making provision for alternative travel solutions.
