Votings and Awarding decided
The 10th Ordinary Congress of the European Handball Federation continued with the second and closing day in Copenhagen in front of the representatives of the EHF member federations plus the associated federation of Kosovo.
YAC European Championships
The Congress made lasting decisions on the second day. First, the Younger Age Category European Championship tournaments were awarded.
M20 European Championship 2012: Turkey
M18 European Championship 2012: Austria
W19 European Championship 2013: Denmark
The W17 European Championship 2013 will be newly announced for bidding.
EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark
The representatives of the National Federations have then turned their attention towards the Men’s EHF EURO 2014 as the bids were presented. First the presentation of Croatia/Hungary was shown on the screens, which was followed by the presentation of Denmark. The Congress awarded the organisation rights of the event to Denmark. The votes were shared as follows:
Denmark: 24 votes
Croatia/Hungary: 22 votes
Abstention: 1 vote
At the same time, the Congress confirmed that due to the withdrawal of bids, the Women’s EHF EURO 2014 will be newly announced and open for bids. The allocation of the event will be made by the Executive Committee of the EHF.

The Congress elected the members of a number of committees and boards. For each committee/board the nations ranked 1st and 2nd on the current club/national team ranking had the right to nominate a member. For the members please see the overview below:

Budget approved
The Treasurer of the European Handball Federation, Ralf Dejaco, presented the budget for the 2011/12 business period that the Congress approved formally.
Celebration of the best nations
At the Congress, the EHF recognised the most successful nations of the 2008 and 2009. The award was given on the basis of all competitions organised by the EHF on a club and national team level in all age group categories.
The Best Nation Award 2008 was handed over to the Danish Handball Association President, Per Rasmussen.
The Best Nation Award 2009 was given to France. Joel Delplanque, French Handball Federation President received the prize from EHF President Tor Lian.
Development projects
A number of development agreements were signed at the 10th EHF Congress. The EHF signed SMART Project agreements with the English Handball Association as well as with the Serbian Handball Federation.
The Croatian Handball Federation and the Israel Handball Association have closed an agreement on cooperation in the framework of the Foster Project.
Finally, the Infrastructure Project was confirmed by a signature between the EHF and the Irish Olympic Handball Association as well as with the Scottish Handball Association.
Conclusion
The two-day sport political event came to an end with the closing words of EHF President Tor Lian: “It was a very successful Congress where we had an open dialogue on different matters,” he said.
