Great Britain becomes new EHF member

The British Handball Association has been accepted as member of the European Handball Federation and will take the place of the England and Scotland Handball Associations.

Due to the fact that the country plays as Great Britain in IHF competitions and the Olympic Games, the nations want to continue to compete in EHF competitions as Great Britain following the Olympic Games in London.

The England and Scotland Federations will continue to be responsible for the development in their home nations but will no longer be members of the European Federation, with the BHA will be responsible for the national squads.

Associated federation

The request of Kosovo to move from their associated feder status to a member of the EHF was also dealt with by the EHF.

With the status of country as yet not clearly defined from a sporting and political point of view, the EHF has agreed to continue to investigate the issue, also in cooperation with the IHF, because of this the Congress did not vote on the federation’s full membership.
