EHF Congress: Awards for officials

The European Handball Federation has made awards to a number of key people at the EHF Congress in Monaco, in recognition of their work, dedication and service to the federation over many years.

Honorary President

The outgoing President Tor Lian (NOR) was elected EHF Honorary President and during the standing ovation he was presented not only with a special golf club but with the EHF golden pin and diploma.

Commenting on the award, Tor Lian, said: "I appreciate this award very much. The work for the European Handball was just fun for me. We have had a lot of challenges, we came from nowhere and we have became a modern organisation."

Honorary Members

The Congress also elected three new Honorary Members - all former chairmen of the Commissions.

Jan Tuik (NED) from the Competition Commission and František Táborský (CZE) from the Methods Commission both retried at the Congress.

Táborský was not present at awarding due to duties at the University World Handball Championships in Brazil.

The third person to be presented with an award was László Sinka (HUN) chairman of the Beach Handball Commission expressed his desire to continue his work for European handball.

Special Awards

Special Awards were presented to the former member of Competition Commission Jesus Guerrero (ESP), the former member of Methods Commission Allan Lund (DEN), the former Vice President of Court of Handball Moshe Herrman (ISR) and the former EHF Comptroller Helmut Szebeczek (AUT).
