31 nations enter U21 World Championship

The EHF has confirmed that 31 European nations have entered the Men's U21 World Championship, which will be played in Bosnia Herzegovina from 14 to 28 July 2013.

Three nations have already qualified for the event: the event’s hosts Bosnia Herzegovina, the winners of the 2012 Men’s 20 European Championship, Spain, and runners up, Croatia.

A total of 28 nations will play in qualification for the event. Qualification tournaments will be played 4 to 6 January 2013.

Participating nations are: Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine.

Nine places will be available through qualification for European teams.

The nations, which were awarded the right to organise the 2011 Men’s U21 World Championship qualification groups may not organise a group in 2013. These are Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine.

The draw for Qualification Europe will take place on Friday, 21 September 2012 at approximately 18.00 hrs.
