Holmris takes over as Swiss women's national team coach
The Swiss Handball Federation has announced on Thursday, 15 November, that Jesper Holmris will be taking over the role as head coach of the women's national team from 1 March 2013.
This 41-year-old Dane will follow into Marta Bon's footsteps who will take on a role with the Slovenian Handball Federation following two years in Switzerland.
Holmris, who played 55 times for the Danish national team, had been the Swiss Federation's preferred candidate for the job.
He has been working as a coach at the handball academy in Aarhus since 2004, was also in charge of Great Britain's women's team during their campaign at the London 2012 Olympic Games and still coaches the team today.
Priot to that he had been in charge of Danish side SK Aarhus.
Furthermore the father-of-two possesses good knowledge of Swiss handball as he first played and the coached Yellow Winterthur between 1998 and 2000 as well as between 2003 and 2004.
Holmris holds the major Danish coaching certificate and also European Handball Federation's Master Coach certificate. He signed a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season.
In just two weeks Switzerland will throw off their qualifying campaign for the 2013 World Championship. In the first phase of the Qualification Europe they will face Slovakia, Greece and Finland in a tournament played between 30 November and 2 December in Slovakia.
