Playmaker Larsson leaving Sävehof

Fredrik Larsson is leaving Swedish champions IK Sävehof for German Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach with immediate effect.
The 28 year old Swedish international is joining the Germans on a contract valid for the rest of this season.

Currently, Sävehof still have a chance to go on from Group B in the VELUX EHF Champions League, where they are in fifth position with four points after seven games, the same as Celje who are fourth, but even though Gummersbach are struggling against relegation, there was not much doubt in Larsson´s mind, when he got the offer.

“It is a traditional club who has won the league as well as several European Cup titles, latest in 2009. The career is short, and you do not get many chances like this one,” Fredrik Larsson told the website of the Swedish Handball Federation.

“It feels a bit strange to leave at the middle of the season, but the offer was so interesting that I could not say no to this chance,” he added.

Fredrik Larsson has appeared in five out of Sävehof´s six Champions League matches this season and has scored 17 goals.
