Belgium's record qualifier broadcast live on ehfTV

The European Handball Federation has decided to broadcast a fifth EHF EURO 2018 qualifier live on its online TV platform, ehfTV.

Being added to the schedule is the Group 7 match on Sunday, 6 November between Belgium and current world champions France. The match throws off at 15:30 hrs local time in Liège.

This brings the tally of qualifiers being shown on ehfTV in the coming week to five. The following matches will be broadcast:

  • 2 November, Germany vs Portugal at 19:00 hrs CET
  • 3 November, Poland vs Serbia at 20:00 hrs CET
  • 5 November, Czech Republic vs FYR Macedonia at 14:25 hrs CET
  • 6 November, Belgium vs France at 15:30 hrs CET
  • 6 November, Romania vs Poland at 19:00 hrs CET

Belgium attempt to break a spectator record for handball when they play France.

"We are optimistic to set a new spectators record for handball matches in Belgium with 4,200 fans in Liège," said the federation's President, Piet Moons.

More than 3,000 tickets are already sold.

"We never had such an interest before, usually about 500 fans attended our international matches. But this is another sign that handball is growing in Belgium," said left wing Damian Kedziora.

If statistics are anything to go by, then the chances for Belgium to defeat the current French world champions exist.

The only time to date that France played an EHF EURO qualifier in Belgium, they lost 21:20. However, it must be noted that this game was played 21 years ago and that France won the return match 21:9 only two days later.
