Registration completed for Women's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification; six teams to play Phase 1
32 teams have registered for the Women's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification which will start today and eventually lead 15 of them to the final tournament in France in December next year. France as organiser of the 16-nation event is already qualified.
The number of teams registered means that a first qualification phase consisting of six teams needs to be played.
Based on the EHF National Team Ranking valid for the EHF EURO 2018 Qualification, the teams of Finland, Israel, Faroe Islands, Kosovo, Greece and Georgia play this first qualification phase which is scheduled for 9 to 11 June.
The draw will already take place on 21 March at the EHF Office in Vienna and will be streamed live on the EHF EURO Facebook page.
For the draw, Finland and Israel are seeded in Pot 1, Faroe Islands and Kosovo in Pot 2, Greece and Georgia in Pot 3 (download the draw procedure)
The first ranked teams of each group will qualify for the second qualification phase which will be played in six rounds between September 2017 and June 2018.
The teams participating are the following:
Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine + the two group winners of the first qualification phase.
The draw for this part of the Women's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification will take place on 21 April in Paris.
The participating teams will be drawn to seven groups of four teams each. The top two ranked teams of each group and the best third ranked team overall will qualify for the Women's EHF EURO 2018 which will played from 30 November to 16 December 2018.
