Handball mourns death of young referee

It is the EHF’s sad duty to report the death of the 22-year-old referee, Egidijus Navickas from Lithuania.

He was killed in a serious car accident on the highway between Vilnius and Kaunas on the evening of Monday, 10 April 2017.

Navickas had recently been nominated, together with his refereeing partner, Jencevicius Edvinas, to join the EHF’s Young Referee Programme, but they had not yet been nominated for any international matches or events.

The EHF joins the whole of the European handball family in expressing its sincere condolences to the colleagues, friends and family of Egidijus Navickas at such a difficult time.
