Stanko stars in Krim comeback win

Thüringer ran out of steam in the second half of what was until that point a solid performance against Krim, but the two points stay in Slovenia on Saturday evening.

The seven-goal win flatters the home side a bit, but they will not mind one bit as they celebrate their first victory of this season's Women's EHF Champions League

  • Krim bounce back from opening round loss to claim their first points of the season
  • After two rounds, the German champion did not win any games in the Champions League and possess last spot in the group
  • Tamara Mavsar scored seven penalties for Krim, while THC failed to support Luzumova in attack as she stood out with six goals

GROUP C
RK Krim Mercator (SLO) vs Thüringer HC (GER) 27:20 (10:12)

Meike Schmelzer took the lead for THC from the very first shot. The German side was tuned in from the very beginning and stormed into a four-goal lead.

However, Krim closed in, thanks mostly to goals from Tjasa Stanko and Tamara Mavsar, as they trailed Thüringer HC by two at the break.

In the second half, both defences became tougher and only Iveta Luzumova could find the net for the guests.

The home fans had to wait the 36th minute to see again even numbers on the scoreboard at 14-14, but Krim took full control from that point onwards.

THC were not able to find any rhythm in attack and scored only eight goals in the second period, while their defence began to leak goals.

While Mavsar buried the penalties, Stanko was doing all the damage for Krim in open play and her six-goal haul helped the Slovenian side cruise in the final minutes to their first victory of the campaign,
