After four days of intense battles on the sands of Porto Santo, the new champions of the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup 2024 have been crowned. Current titleholders The Danish Beachhandball Dream retained their crown in the women's competition, while GRD Leça – Spar snatched the men's title from 2023 winners Rødby Beach Boys. The champions were decided in dramatic shootouts that kept us on the edge of our seats.

I have always believed in my girls, but I knew it's going to be hard. I think we were playing better and better throughout the tournament. I'm very proud of the girls, proud of the victory but I'm also proud to come out and show Danish beach handball like this. It's important to get young players to join.

It comes so much, to win here a gold medal is just perfect. I was coming here hoping to defend the title, but with the new team and the new players who haven't been so much together, it was hard. We learned how to play with each other, and it turned out perfect.

I am so proud we could catch the semi-finals with both teams. I am so proud of the good work we did in the tournament, I have very good players and they made me so happy. This is a very nice reward for the guys who worked a lot. The defence always wins championships, and all our strategy starts in defence. Today was not a very good day in attack, but the defence won the match. I have no idea how I will celebrate it, I just want to cry.

There are no words to describe this feeling. It's the trophy we have been chasing for many years. It's been a long year, and what better way to finish the competition but with a gold medal. We have a lot of experienced players and we had a really nice preparation for this tournament. We need to celebrate this title.
