BIOGRAPHY
Handball was not Eduarda Amorim-Taleska’s first love, as the young Brazilian picked up rhythmic gymnastics when she was just a child. She made a switch to handball because of her older sister, Ana, who was already playing professional handball and was part of the women's national team. Born in Blumenau, Brazil, in 1986, dreaming of a handball career at the highest level seemed an impossible mission at the time. But little did Amorim-Taleska know that she would become one of the most influential players in the sport.
Her first experience outside Brazil was at Kometal Skopje, where she discovered the challenges of professional sport in Europe. She managed to adapt to the requirements of a new environment and in just a few years Amorim-Taleska received an offer which could not be refused: to play for Györ. Her collaboration with the Hungarian team would last for most of her career (12 years) and would give her some of the best achievements an athlete could hope for. With Amorim-Taleska’s help as a left back and defender, Györ would go on to win the EHF Champions League five times, in two consecutive stints: in 2013, 2014 and in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Her recognition on the international stage was highlighted by the awards she received: MVP of the World Championship (2013), IHF World Player of the year (2014), All-star left back of the EHF Champions League (2014) and EHF Player of the Year (2019), to name a few. With the Brazilian national team, Amorim-Taleska won numerous trophies and medals at the Pan American Championship and Pan American Games, as well as gold at the 2013 World Championship in Serbia.
After moving to CSM Bucuresti from Rostov-Don in 2022, the Brazilian decided to retire from professional handball at 35 years old.
