BIOGRAPHY
Nodjialem Myaro was born in Chad in 1976, but moved with her family to Toulouse in France at the age of two. She played handball in Toulouse before being persuaded by France coach Olivier Krumbholz to join Metz in 1995, and she picked up her first French jersey a year later.
Myaro played for Metz for seven seasons, winning five French championships, before moving to Denmark in 2002 to join first Ikast and then Kolding. However, she was only in Denmark for three years, and then returned to France for another eight seasons at various clubs. She retired in 2013.
During her international career, Myaro played in 151 games and scored 499 goals. She was part of the French squad at four World Championships, two Olympic Games, and two EHF EUROs, winning gold at the 2003 World Championship alongside silver in 1999 and EHF EURO bronze in 2002. She was named All-star centre back of the 1999 World Championship.
On retirement, Myaro became president of the Ligue féminine de handball, a position she has held ever since. In parallel, Myaro is a TV commentator, lending her voice to analysis of both women’s and men’s handball games at world and European championships and the Olympic Games.
