Bidding for handball’s future

Three EHF member federations are bidding to host men's and women's Younger Age Category events in 2014 and 2015.

2014 Men’s 20 European Championship
24 July – 3 August 2014

Austria

The only bid to host the 2014 Men's 20 European Championship comes from the national federation of Austria.

The federation has already organised three European events before, the 1997 Women’s 18 and the 2005 Women’s 17 European Championship as well as the Men’s EHF EURO 2010.

Planned venues for the event are Tips Arena in Linz and HAKA Arena in Traun. In 2012, Austria will be staging the Men's 18 European Championship. 

2014 Men’s 18 European Championship
14 – 24 August 2014

FYR Macedonia

After the Women’s EHF EURO 2008, the national federation of FYR Macedonia is hoping to bring back the European Championship flair to Boris Trajkovski Sports Hall in Skopje and Biljanini Izvori Sports Hall in Ohrid.

The federation is also bidding for the 2015 Women's 17 European Championship.

Poland

Two times the Polish federation have already hosted Younger Age Category events, the 1996 Women’s 20 and the 2002 Men’s 20 European Championship.

For the 2014 Men's 18 European Championship they plan to play the matches in AWFiS Hall (Gdańsk) and Hala Sportowo-Widowiskowa (Gdynia).

Poland is also bidding for the Men’s EHF EURO 2016.

2015 Women’s 17 European Championship
13 – 23 August 2015

For this tournament, only one federation has placed a bid.

FYR Macedonia, hosts of the Women’s EHF EURO 2008 are proposing to organise the 2015 Women's 17 European Championship in two venues, Boris Trajkovski Sports Hall (Skopje) and Biljanini Izvori Sports Hall (Ohrid).

They are also bidding on staging the 2014 Men's 18 European Championship.

2015 Women’s 19 European Championship
23 July – 2 August 2015


No bids. The Turkish Handball Federation withdrew its bid on 23 May 2012

Announcement of decisions

The EHF Congress is expecting to make its decision on the hosting of the YAC events in the afternoon session of Saturday, 23 June from 14.30 hrs.

Decisions will be posted immediately on the EHF Media and Communications Twitter @EHFMedia Channel and via the eurohandball.com website.
