EHF Excellence Awards
Every year, the EHF Excellence Awards honour the best players – both male and female – in each playing position: goalkeeper, left wing, left back, centre back, right back, right wing, and line player, plus best defender. Those eight players form the respective 'Team of the Season'.
Out of the seven playing positions and the best defender, a season MVP is selected for both genders. Furthermore, the respective season's two best beach handball players – one man, one woman – of the past season as well as the best male and the best female rookies are awarded.
To select the 'Team of the Season', an online vote will be conducted involving players, coaches, media and fans. The vote for the 2023/24 edition is scheduled to start in June 2024. The awards gala will take place on 14 December 2024, at the final weekend of the Women's EHF EURO 2024.

The MVPs of 2022/23: Simon Pytlick and Katrine Lunde
Danish left back Simon Pytlick and Norwegian goalkeeper Katrine Lunde have been named the first MVPs in 2022/23.
Pytlick won the world title with Denmark in January 2023 and helped GOG reach the club’s first ever quarter-final in the Machineseeker EHF Champions League, scoring 92 goals in the process.
Lunde took gold with Norway at the Women’s EHF EURO 2022 and completed a hattrick of EHF Champions League titles with Vipers Kristiansand, reaching a superb save rate in both competitions.
I didn't expect it, so it is pretty amazing to stand here in front of all these amazing people, all those legends I have been looking up to as a kid. It is just a big honour.
The beach handball MVPs of 2022/23: Asun Batista and Gabriel Conceição
The beach handball MVPs of the 2022/23 season are the same players who were named MVP at the EHF Beach Handball EURO 2023 in Nazaré: Spanish legend Asun Batista and Portuguese youngster Gabriel Conceição.
Batista is an all-time great of the game, who plays a crucial role in both defence and attack on club and national team level.
Conceição is one of the up-and-coming stars of the game, who helped Portugal to their best-ever finish at their home EURO in May 2023.
