Denmark hosts European Beach Handball Championships 2013

The city of Randers in Denmark is to host the 2013 edition of the Men’s, Women’s and Younger Age Category European Beach Handball Championships.

The decision by the EHF Executive, announced on the final weekend of EHF EURO 2012 final in Serbia, will see the Danish Handball Federation host Europe’s biggest beach handball event just one year before the Men’s EHF EURO is played in the country.

Under the slogan “Life is a beach” the city of Randers is planning to organise an event offering excellent beach facilities for players and additional activities and entertainment for participants and spectators.

The city has ambitious plans to be the leading beach handball city in Denmark and will also host the finals of the Danish championship and the European Tour.

An agreement has already been made with Denmark’s TV2 Sport to televise the event, which will see the beach handball message spread further across the handball-obsessed country.

The championship forms the centre point of the Danish Handball Federation’s plans to develop beach handball in the country, ambitious plans that aim to have up to 30,000 beach players in Denmark within the next three years.

The Men’s, Women’s and Younger Age Category European Beach Handball Championships will take place in Randers from 5 to 14 July 2013.
