Draw of 6 European Cups

On 27 July 2010 at 11:00 hrs six competitions will be drawn in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna in the following order:

  • 2010/11 Women’s Challenge Cup
  • 2010/11 Men’s Challenge Cup
  • 2010/11 Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup
  • 2010/11 Men’s Cup Winners’ Cup
  • 2010/11 Women’s EHF Cup
  • 2010/11 Men’s EHF Cup

From the six winners from the 2009/10 season, there are only three defending champions: Men’s EHF Cup winners TBV Lemgo (GER), Men’s Cup Winners’ Cup winners VfL Gummersbach (GER) and Men’s Challenge Cup winners Sporting Clube de Portugal (POR). These three are playing in the same competition again and have reserved places.

As the Women’s EHF Cup winners Randers HK A/S (DEN) are starting in the EHF Champions League this season, the same as Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup winners Buducnost T-Mobile. (MNE), their places are being passed on to FC Midtjylland (DEN) and WHC Biseri (MNE).

Buxtehuder Sportverein (GER), who won the Women’s Challenge Cup have taken advantage of their right to compete in the EHF Cup. With that no place is reserved in the Challenge Cup.

At this draw event a total of 204 teams – from 41 nations in the men’s European Cup competitions and 37 nations in the women’s cups – will start the new season. With Great Dane HC joining the Challenge Cup, an English women’s team will take part in a European Cup competition for the first time ever.
