EHF announces new staff appointment

The European Handball Federation has announced that Peter Sichelschmidt is to join its staff from 2 November 2011.

In his new role as a senior manager working within the EHF headquarters in Vienna, Sichelschmidt will assume responsibility for national team activities.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General, said: “I am delighted that Peter is to join us, this is a key appointment for the EHF as we look to strengthen our national team competitions and the sport’s position on the international sports market. He brings with him a wealth of experience from his many years within the sport.”

Sichelschmidt has been Sports Director of the German Handball Federation (Deutsche Handballbund) since 1999 and was previously Director of Youth Handball within the German federation.

He has been both an EHF and IHF Delegate since 2000 and a member of the Internaional Federation’s Commission of Organising and Competitions for over 10 years and has participated in numerous major events including the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
