German newbie vs Hungarian experience

The home right of the first leg in the Women's EHF Cup Finals goes to TuS Metzingen from Germany. The European newcomer will host Dunaujvarosi Kohasz Kezilabda Akademia from Hungary on the weekend of 30 April/1 May. The second leg will take place on the weekend 7/8 May.

The winning team will replace Team Tvis Holstebro on the EHF Cup throne. The Danish side however, is still fighting in the Cup Winners' Cup this season and plays the final matches on the same weekends against Handball Club Lada.

After an impressive performance in the semi-finals against ASC Corona 2010 Brasov, Metzingen now have a chance to win their first international title in their first European season.

"At first, we only wanted to gain experience, but now we want the title," said the German side's manager Ferenc Rott after the draw.

"The key for us were the matches against HC Leipzig. We played against them three times in less than two weeks and managed to win every game. Now we have the chance to win the EHF Cup as well as the German Bundesliga, which would give us the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season."

First things first, the Hungarian side Dunaujvarosi will not be an easy opponent for Metzingen. The experienced team played internationally since the 1994/95 season and won not only the EHF Cup 1997/98, but also the Cup Winners' Cup in their first European campaign, the Champions Trophy and the EHF Champions League both in 1998/99.
