More hot candidates for trophy in EHF Cup make it to Last 16

The remaining twelve tickets for the Women´s EHF Cup Last 16 have been taken over the past weekend.

The draw of the last sixteen will take place on 20 November at 11:00 hrs local time at Vienna´s EHF headquarters. The seedings for the draw will be published later on Monday.

After several favourites had already secured their berths for the next stage in the previous weekend as 2002 and 2011 trophy holders from Denmark´s FC Midtjylland Handball, last season´s runners-up from Romania´s HC Zalau and the reigning winners of the EHF Cup from Russia´s Lada Togliatti qualified together with Macedonia´s ŽRK Vardar.

More candidates for the winners´ trophy followed last weekend as last season´s Women's EHF Challenge Cup winners HAC Havre from France, Norway´s Tertnes Bergen, the record French champions Metz Handball and the Spanish title holders Grupo Asfi Itxako Navarra qualified as well.

However, Metz succeeded only thanks to a higher number of away goals after they won 32:26 against Hungarian side ETV-Érdi VSE in front of 4500 spectators.

Russian outfit Kuban Krasnodar sneaked through to the next round only by one single goal as they lost against Romania´s HC Dunarea Braila 24:29 (first leg 28:22).

Russian league will have the most participants as three clubs made it through to the Last 16. Besides Kuban the defending winners of EHF Cup Lada Togliatti and Astrakhanochka also made it to the next stage.

Danish Team Tvis Holstebro easily sealed the promotion to the Last 16 after they added another victory against Sweden´s Lugi and won 72:50 on aggregate.

The most scoring team in the competition recorded their minimum of the season – 33 goals, but their average is still exceptional with 39 goals per match.

KGHM Metraco Zaglebie Lubin from Poland repeated the one goal win from the first leg as well in the re-match with Belorusia´s BNTU-BelAZ Minsk Region 25:24.
