Pineau, pumpkins and pregnant playmaker

Pineau's surprising move

WHC Vardar SCBT and the 2009 World Handball Player announced a termination of their contract on Wednesday after a mutual consent. But Pineau did not stay without a club long.

Various rumours saw the French back court ace either going to the defending champions Györ, returning to France and signing for Metz or being lured by Romanian clubs Baia Mare and CSI Bucharest. On Saturday Pineau pretty much stunned the handball public announcing a contract with Slovenia's Krim Mercator until the end of this season.

Who to deputise irreprecable in Györ

The pregnancy news of Anita Görbicz (read exclusive story here), who already stopped training and playing with Györ triggered an avalanche of questions among the handball public not only in Hungary.

Will the national team stand a chance in a medal race at the home EHF EURO without their charismatic playmaker? Will her absence put the Györ hopes for the Women's EHF FINAL4 in jeopardy? Will Anita return to action already for the next season or will she put her family to the first place for more years? The hottest issue in Györ is whether the club will use only the Spanish pre-season reinforcement Macarena Aguilar combined with Aniko Kovacsics to fill the void or will try to sign a new player.

Zrnic to Bosporus

Bakan-handball.com reports that Besiktas MOGAZ HT bolstered their roster with a new addition to their Balkan contingent. Seasoned veteran Vedran Zrnic should help the Turkish champions in their quest for first points in the VELUX EHF Champions League. The 35-year-old member of a golden Croatian generation, who has six medals from the major national teams events including the 2004 Olympic gold, played for Orlen Wisla Plock last season.

Another transfer might see Renato Vugrinec from Metalurg sign HSG Wetzlar according to www.handball-world.com.

Unusual preparation of Lokomotiva and Larvik

Larvik had to rally from behind in all their games so far this season, but still managed to win in all three cases. Click here to find out more about their work-out, which could be their secret key to success.

Also Zagreb used some unusual stuff in their preparation for Sävehof game which saw their historic point in the EHF Champions League.
