Three teams for Round 3 to be decided

Three ties still remain to be decided in Round 2 of the Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup, in which the last teams for Round 3 are to be decided.

One double header and the second legs of two ties - started last weekend - will be the action this weekend.

The double header is taking place in Serbia, where the Sport Centar Mladost “Jezero” in Kragujevac will be the venue of the two matches between WHC Radnicki Kragujevac and Jomi Salerno from Italy.

Earlier this season, Kragujevac failed to qualify for the Women´s EHF Champions League, as they finished last in their qualification group.

Therefore, the Serbian team is now in the Cup Winners’ Cup, and that is not so bad, if you ask their head coach Aleksandar Radosavljevic:

“The Cup Winners’ Cup is a good place to develop our young team,” he said.

Jomi Salerno also have the experience of failing to qualify for the Champions League Group Matches.

That was their fate two years ago, and they reached Round 3 of the EHF Cup last season.

Skuru IK are taking a five-goal lead with them to Turkey for the return match against Ardesen GSK.

The Swedish side took a 30:25 win at home in the last tie, and even though Skuru had a bigger lead during the game, head coach Patrik Svarven is fairly confident ahead of the match:

“We take the good things we did in the first match with us,” he said.

The last team for the third round will be found in the Sportska Sala Avtokomanda in Skopje, when WHC Metalurg receive Westfriesland SEW from the Netherlands.

The first match ended with a narrow 24:23 win for Metalurg, so the Macedonian team has an obvious edge ahead of the second match.
